We already know how much pressure it can be to choose your bridesmaids. Not to mention what they are going to wear. It may be difficult to find one style that fits all. Here are some tips to mixing it up:
Ask the Experts: If you want all of girls to have the same dress, call around to the places you will be trying on dresses and ask them for guidance on styles that flatter a wide range of body types. Make sure they have your girls sizes available when making your appointment.
Still want your bridal party to look uniform, but want your bridesmaids to be 100% comfortable: Find a designer that makes the same dress in multiple styles. This way your girls can find a dress that will fit their body type but they will all be the same color and fabric. Also, make sure you specify what length dress you would like, so they blend well together for pictures.
If you want to be fun and unique: Have them pick out their own dresses completely! Don’t be afraid to give guidelines such as: The length of the dress or how conservative it needs to be. If you are feeling extra adventurous, have the grooms wear their own suit! If you want to avoid having the bridal party blend in with your wedding guests pick a common accessory (besides flowers and boutonnieres) to tie them all in together. For example if you have the brides maids choose their own dresses ask that they wear the same hair style or hair accessory, matching jewelry or shoes. The groomsmen can have matching ties or pocket squares. If you choose to let them pick their own attire, but want them to have something the same, make sure you tell your bridal party in advance so they can be sure it coordinates.
Other than the above advice, have fun with it! This is your wedding. Show off your personality, do not be afraid of patterns and colors. Also, don’t forget about yourself. Try a colored lining underneath your dress, or a nontraditional pair of wedding shoes. Just be yourself!
