Shaun Sterling

Shaun has been studying and practicing Yoga since the age of 12. His journey in Yoga started when he studied martial arts at Hillcrest Academy. He was very fortunate to study Goshin JuJitsu and have a foundation of meditation taught to him from such a young age. Meditation is one of the most important aspects of Yoga as it was taught traditionally. His studies of Yoga and spirituality continued with extensive reading and study from the age of 15. True inspiration started when he read “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda, to get initiated in the Kriya Yoga tradition and lineage of great realized masters. He was initiated into this spiritual discipline at the age of 19 and has been practicing this form of meditation ever since. His background in martial arts also nourished his study of Chi Gong, Systema and the meditative disciplines of the Buddhist, Shaolin and Taoist sages. He feels that all of these disciplines compliment each other and can offer life lessons that can help one realize there unity with the Source.

Shaun is also a certified personal trainer and received his 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification from Chagrin Yoga in December of 2014. He received his 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification from Cleveland Yoga in May of 2010.

Shaun is also a certified Thai Massage Practitioner and has training in Chei Nei Tsang a form of internal organ or visceral massage. He also has trained in Systema Annealing bodywork which is a form of massage and tissue work that aims to remove tension throughout the whole body both psychologically and physically. Systema is the Russian Martial Art and Health System and views tension in the form of muscular knots, tightness, stiffness, etc… to have roots not only physically but also mentally and psychologically. Shaun is also an Reiki Master in the Usui Shiki Ryoho Lineage. His massage and bodywork blends all these methods into a system that can help people relax, speed up healing for injuries, and help create health and wellness in mind, body, and spirit.

Shaun is grateful for all of his teachers including but not limited to: James Meola, Grand Master Gene L. Chicoine, Michael Lograsso, Tami Schneider, Paramahansa Yogananada, Paramahansa Prajnananda, Yogacharya Badrayu Pandya, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Rama, Mantak Chia, Phillip Belzunce, Rudra Shivananda, Victor Wooten, Vladimir Vasiliev, and many more.
