Pranayama & Meditation – Pranayama practices are specific yogic breathing techniques to assist in controlling prana – or vital life force. By learning how to control the breath, students will calm the mind, reduce cravings and control emotions. Combined with meditation the sincere student will be able face any situation in life with equanimity and composure. Practicing these techniques leads to a deep sense of contentment – this class should not be missed!

Open Level Class – This is an open mixed level Dharma Yoga practice. This is suitable for new students as well as those with a regular practice. It is mostly asana (physical poses) and includes a deep healing practice at the conclusion. Variations of poses are offered for different abilities. The first half of the class is a flow to warm up the body. During the second half of the class the poses are held comfortably and the students are invited to become still and allow the mind to settle.

Maha Sadhana – This amazing session begins with spiritual purification discourses explaining how the ancient teachings of yoga can find expression in our modern lives. The workshop continues with an in-depth, challenging Dharma Yoga Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa practice that includes deep healing relaxation and a reflective meditation practice. You will be shown how to establish proper placement, alignment and the deep spiritual intention behind each pose. Personal attention and helpful hints are given throughout the session, as well as direction towards the true goal of yoga – Self-realization. The practice concludes with the joyful asana jam where all students have the opportunity to offer a pose or simply watch and enjoy.

Arm Balances & Inversions – This is an all levels asana class with a focus on arm balances and inversions. Yoshio will guide the class through a series of warm-ups designed to build upper body strength and pelvic floor control – two keys to advancing in arm balances and inversions. Yoshio will offer options for all levels – regardless of where you are in your practice. Yoshio has many years of experience of guiding students to more advanced and lesser-known asana variations.

Yoshio started practicing yoga in Caracas, Venezuela in 1999. Between 1999 and 2008 had the opportunity to study Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Rocket Yoga and Iyengar Yoga. In 2008, He came to New York to study with Sri Dharma Mittra and from that day started a new life, found a Guru and a spiritual family. He is certified at 200 / 500 / 800 Hour Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi Teacher Training Program. He is also Rocket Yoga Certified Teacher. In 2011 he joined the Dharma Yoga Teacher Training Staff. In addition to travelling and teaching throughout New York City, Yoshio teaches a Master Class and Maha Shakti every week at Dharma Yoga Center.
