Club Walden Announces Exciting Changes in 2021
This past year certainly has been one that we will never forget. It has given us time to think about the Club and what opportunities there might be to stay relevant today and tomorrow. After much internal discussion and careful consideration, we have a few exciting announcements to make!
THE BARN
We are so fortunate to be able to offer the Barn Dining Club to our members. No other club offers both the Barn’s level of exquisite dining quality and such a unique venue. Towards this end, we feel it is time to give the space some new legs and redecorate! The new design pays homage to the Barn’s roots, while bringing it into 2021 and beyond. We have selected a fresh pallet and emphasized the equestrian background that is a pillar in the Walden landscape. The culinary team will update their offerings, putting the Barn on par with any dining location in the City!
One adjustment to our commitment of formal dining: jackets will be optional (but encouraged). It was made clear to us by the Advisory Board and others that our required jacket may turn some off from the Barn. We hear those comments and respect everyone’s opinion. We plan to evolve with the times, making jackets for gentleman optional and encouraged, but not mandatory.
THE CLUBHOUSE
This year has given us the opportunity to expand our outdoor dining, and we intend to continue to add to this with a substantial addition to the Clubhouse.
We have always had two bars, but at times the front bar just wasn’t big enough. Our members migrated to the Bogey Bar for the warmth of the space and camaraderie. This pushed us to consider options that might also provide an appealing space to unwind.
To that end, we began to question. What if we created a new bar that overlooked the golf course, driving range and the lake? What would the club feel like if we had a casual, outdoor place to congregate? Could we have a bar that could service inside dining and outside dining at the same time? What about a place where, even after the sun went down the pesky bugs flew away, we could linger longer?
We reached out to a well-respected AODk Architecture firm with these questions to create a new and exciting chapter for the Club. As you will soon see, we are adding a new deck with access from the mixed grill. There are stairs leading to the ladies locker room and cart staging area for easy access. Fire Pits for conversing and dining, and an outdoor bar with clear viewing inside, should you care to watch a sporting event on the television. A much larger bar to handle the busy nights.
At this same time, we will refresh the mixed grill, lobby and ladies locker-room to give a warm and welcome feeling.
We are optimistic that, with the Covid 19 vaccine’s growing availability, restrictions of social distancing will soon be a thing of the past, and that we can unveil the changes by Memorial Day 2021. We expect to break ground soon and redo the Bar area in the winter of 2021. We will keep you posted should we need to rearrange dining areas during construction.
We are very excited about this next chapter of the Club and we continue to make enhancements to your membership.
